Q & A #1

canal in Amsterdam

One of my favorite type of blogposts to read are Q&As because I love getting to know the person behind the screen a little more with each answer.

And since I’ve been getting quite a few questions on Instagram via direct messages lately I thought why not publish a Q&A post myself? So I asked you to ask me some questions in the comments of one of my Instagram pictures and now I’m going to answer them.

So here are all of your questions and my answers. I tried to order them in categories so it’s not too random.

Thank you for everyone who asked questions. I’ll probably be doing one of these again some time. So if you have anymore questions leave them in the comments below.

How old are you?

I’m 26. I stopped writing my age in my bio in social media because I keep forgetting to update it. Although sometimes it could be helpful to have it there but there’s actually times when I don’t remember how old I am anymore. Years just go by way too quickly and I can’t seem to be able to keep up.

What are your goals for 2018?

Make the best out of the six month I’ll spend in Australia, work for a charity project, read at least 12 books, improve my photography skills, get better at arm balances in yoga and stop overthinking everything too much.

What’s your favorite childhood memory?

I’ve thought about that for quite some time now but there’s really not one specific day or situation that’s coming to my mind. but I was quite an outdoors kid and one of my favorite things to do was accompanying my grandpa on his trips into the wood with his tractor or going on mushroom forays with my grandparents.

What are you particularly proud of?

My way from being an extremely shy and self doubting girl to being a strong and determined woman who’s standing up for her own rights and the rights of other people and living beings.

What was the most defining situation in your life?

That might sound silly but actually discovering a video about animal slaughter. Because it has led me to veganism which has led me to Instagram which has led me to discover so much about personal growth and has helped me find some amazing friends!

What is the number one thing on your list of things to do before you die?

Run the Boston marathon. I have no idea if I will ever be able to do it but it would mean the world to be if I ever did.

What quality do you like most about yourself?

That I am a very kind and mostly positiv person.

What do you want your life to be like in five years?

I don’t even know what I want my life to be like in one year let alone five. I want to be happy with whatever I am doing in five years.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Watching Germany’s next top model, I usually hate tv shows of all kind, but I have been watching every single Germany’s next top model season that has aired so far. I don’t even know why I like watching it so much because I hate whole concept of this show and I find it portraits a completely wrong image of women to other women and especially young girls and I don’t want to support it. But I still like to watch it.

If you could just eat three different foods for the rest of your life what would they be?

So definitely bananas and avocado and then I think as a third I would pick bread because I feel like that goes best with both.

What are your top 3 foods?

Peanut butter, bananas and avocado. For practical reasons I das to replace peanut butter with bread in the question before.

If you could only choose one, peanut butter or chocolate?

Chocolate peanut butter cups? Well okay I guess I would have to go with peanut butter.

Why did you start food blogging?

I feel like this kind of goes along with the last question. I went vegan, discovered the vegan community on Instagram and started posting really awful pictures of my really unappetizing food. And still somehow some people liked it and so I connected with more people and slowly but steadily improved my food styling and also food photography and realized that it’s really something I love doing.

Veganism / Sustainability

How do you handle stupid comments about the vegan lifestyle?

Depends on the situation and the comment. If possible I just ignore them because mostly there’s no solid foundation for a discussion because the other person doesn’t even care. But if I feel like the other person really is up for a discussion about veganism I explain why I think leading a vegan lifestyle is best for the animals, the environment and my health.

What are you doing if non-vegan friends ask you to cook together?

We simply cook together. Normally my friends are very open for eating vegan meals with me. And if they still want some meat or cheese or whatever with their food they just prepare it separately and add it later.

How are you engaging in sustainability? Could you imagine being part of a sustainability club?

I am doing a lot of little things like trying to reduce my waste, buying second hand most of the time, not eating animal products, taking the train or a bus instead of flying for short distances. I actually am part of our sustainability club at uni.

Do you have a set yoga routine?

I wish I had a set yoga routine. Last winter and up until late spring this year I really had a set routine. I was doing half an hour of yoga almost every day but at the moment I do it just whenever i find time.

Are you practicing in the mornings or in the evenings?

Most of the yoga I do happens in the evening just because it feels so much better because I’m way more flexible in the evening in the morning my muscles are still super tight.

How often and for how long?

Right now I’m doing yoga like 2-4 times a week for about 15-60 minutes usually in the evenings. And 5-10 minutes of stretching/yoga most mornings if I’m not running late.

Are you doing yoga at home alone or with videos or are you attending classes?

I usually follow along with Youtube videos and then practice some poses or my own flows afterwards. Recently I also started going to a yoga class at uni. I really missed going to regular yoga classes. I used to go to 2-3 yoga classes a week last year when I was still living in Munich and was member at a gym that offered really good yoga classes.

For how long have you been practicing yoga?

The first time I went to a yoga class was when I was 10 I think. I did a lot of dancing and gymnastics and my gymnastics teacher also offered yoga classes so I went to those for a few years quite regularly. The I stopped for a few years and started doing yoga again when I moved to Munich at age 21. And ever since then it has really been a part very important of my life.

What’s your dream destination to travel to and could you imagine to move to another country?

My dream destination is definitely Australia. I have always wanted to go there and I can’t believe it’s finally happening! I could totally imagine to move abroad and I’m very likely to do that rather sooner than later because I’m just not German enough to live in Germany forever. There’s quite a few things that annoy me here starting with the weather.

How many and which countries have you been too?

17 so far: Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Sweden, The Netherlands, France, Spain, Turkey, Great Britain, Egypt, USA, Canada, Thailand, Cambodia, Colombia, Ecuador

Why are you studying “Online Media Management”?

I was working a 9 to 5 desk job with little room for creativity. So I was looking for something that was more creative but also something that I could imagine myself building my own business with so I wouldn’t have to go back to a 9 to 5 desk job. And that’s when I realized that I loved social media and was very interested in everything that came with digitalization. So my major is the perfect combination of some business and technological background information and many projects with all kinds of different media productions.

Did you have a certain dream job in mind when you chose your major and is it still the same or did it change?

My dream job when I started was to somehow combine my love for traveling with my love for social media. I didn’t know how exactly I would do that but that was my ‘goal’. And it’s still the same, I now have some more ideas of how I could realize it but I still don’t have a perfect plan.

Which magical creature would you want to be?

To be honest I’m not into phantasy at all so I don’t know much about magical creatures. But if there’s some kind of magical creature that has the ability to make everybody happy that would probably be me.
